Our Story

Because You Matter Outreach was born from lived experience, resilience, and an unwavering belief that women and children deserve more than survival—they deserve safety, healing, and a future.

Founded by Victoria Mathis, a mother, domestic violence survivor, U.S. Army veteran, and parole officer, this organization reflects both personal and professional insight into the cycles that keep women and families trapped in crisis. Having experienced trauma firsthand and now working daily with justice-involved individuals, Victoria has seen how lack of support, housing, and resources pushes women back into dangerous environments and generational cycles.

She created Because You Matter Outreach to be the difference she once needed—and the support she now knows so many women are still missing.

This is more than a nonprofit.
It’s a safe place. A second chance. A way forward.

“My passion comes from what I’ve lived, what I’ve survived, and what I see every day—no woman or child should have to fight for safety, stability, or a second chance alone.”

— Victoria Mathis, Founder
